4-H in Manitoba

In Manitoba and across Canada, the 4-H program gives youth a wide range of opportunities for personal development. They build self-confidence, responsibility and leadership skills that last a lifetime!

4-H is an international youth and volunteer organization. The Canadian movement started right here in Roland, Manitoba in 1913.

Today 4-H clubs are going strong in Manitoba, driven by thousands of 4-H members and volunteers, plus a strong partnership with Manitoba Agriculture. More than half of the members live on farms and about a third live in rural non-farm areas.

The 4-H experience

The 4-H motto is 'Learn to do by Doing'.

Members can choose from more than 60 interesting hands-on projects like beef, photography, outdoor cooking, machines, crafts and more! Communication activities help them establish strong speaking and interpersonal skills, while fun events help them build friendships.

While acting as club executive members, they gain valuable experience in leadership, problem-solving and goal-setting. Members also have chances to meet with other 4-H'ers from across the province, the country and around the world.

The whole experience builds strengths that will assist young people throughout their professional and personal lives.

Join 4-H

4-H is open to youth between the ages of 6 and 25. See what it's all about by attending a club meeting, achievement, or rally day.

There are so many ways to get involved as an adult volunteer. You can even start a club. All you need is at least two families and one volunteer leader.
