ROCK LAKE WATER LEVEL STABILIZATION PROJECT (CLIENT FILE: 4196.00)
A Proposal has been filed by Manitoba Natural Resources for outlet regulation works at Rock Lake. The works would consist of a low earthfill dam at the east end of the lake, with a rockfill spillway section, a fishway and a riparian outlet pipe. The project would regulate the lake at a target level of 405.69 metres (1331.00 feet) above sea level. The lake is currently regulated at a target elevation of 405.08 metres (1329.00 feet), but often rises significantly higher due to limited outlet capacity, limited capacity in the Pembina River downstream of the lake, and high spring inflows. The project is intended to stabilize the lake at the elevation which has prevailed in recent summers, and will be the first phase of a plan to improve conditions for recreation and summer and winter fish habitat on the lake.
