Contaminated/Impacted Sites Program

Mandate: 

The purpose of this program is to administer The Contaminated Sites Remediation and Consequential Amendments Act (CSRA).  A team of Environment Officers has been established for this purpose. Team members are regionally based to provide local coverage. The team is co-ordinated through Environmental Services to ensure consistent delivery of the program.

Primary responsibilities of this program include:

• review and concurrence of Remedial Action Plans (RAP)
• inspection of remedial activities
• review of Environmental Site Assessments (ESA)
• site inspection of ESA activities
• inspection of monitoring activities
• monitoring of groundwater and soil
• investigation of complaints and suspected sites
• inspection, monitoring and review of soil recycling facilities and single use sites. (en français)
• designation of sites under The CSRA
• enforcement of The CSRA
