Hazardous Waste Program

Carrier Responsibilities

Following is a summary of the basic responsibilities of hazardous waste carriers in terms of the hazardous waste tracking system:

Must possess a hazardous waste transporter licence (with the exception of recyclable material that is exempt from this regulation).

• Submit Application for a Licence to Transport Hazardous Waste [en français] to Manitoba Conservation in order to be assigned Provincial ID No. as a hazardous waste carrier.
  
• Compliance with terms and conditions associated with the licence.
  
• Prior to picking up hazardous waste, ensure that the waste generator is registered.
  
• Complete Part B of the manifest and retain appropriate copy for two years. For recyclable material that is exempt from manifest, retain copy of shipping document for two years.
