This page is for those who own or use petroleum storage tank systems, without direct involvement in construction/alteration or removal of the storage tank system.
As of April 2, 2005 all operations with regulated petroleum storage tanks require operation permit(s).
If a valid permit does not exist for the facility, the distributor must refuse delivery. For further information, download the reference guide or Manitoba Regulation 188/2001.
Additionally, a valid operating permit will be revoked if the upgrade schedule, that forms part of the operating permit, is not followed. Depending on the type of Petroleum Storage System, three different upgrade schedules exist:
1. Underground tanks not containing waste oil
2. Underground tanks containing waste oil
3. Aboveground storage tanks
