Lockport Provincial Heritage Park

Lockport logo

This important archaeological site reveals how St. Andrews Rapids on the Red River affected the development and evolution of Aboriginal cultures. Displays are in the building, and include a 10-minute video about the site. A short interpretive trail (return distance 0.7 km) called Gifts of the Red, winds through the picnic ground, along the riverbank, and features on-site signs about the resources that have attracted people here for thousands of years. Other highlights visitors may enjoy are seeing American white pelicans and a fish ladder, built so that fish can get upstream from the dam.

Located on PTH 44, east side of the Lockport bridge. Admission: free.

Open: daily, spring and summer.

For hours of operation, or to discuss school program opportunities, contact the park interpreter at (204) 785-5080. Mailing address:
