How did they get this limestone rock off the island? The limestone bedrock just beneath the thin layer of soil covering this trail fuelled a thriving industry for the Island. The first stop along the trail is the wildlife viewing blind that overlooks the lagoon. The trail makes its way to Christine's Fishing Camp, site of an abandoned limestone quarry that operated at the turn of the century. Five on-site interpretive signs explain its operation. Low-lying sections of the trail may be muddy during wet weather and the rocks near the shoreline tend to be slippery use caution. Return distance 3.5 km. Allow 2 h.
