Cross-country Skiing Trail Conditions

Beaudry

The trails are ungroomed with poor conditions.

Birds Hill Reports groomed trails in fair to good condition.
Camp Morton

Reports groomed trails with very good conditions.

Duck Mountains:  
     Childs Lake Trails are groomed and in good condition.
     Wellman Lake Trails are groomed and in good condition.
Clearwater Trails are groomed and are in good condition.
Grand Beach

Reports groomed trails with good conditions.

Hecla The trails are groomed with good conditions.
Paint Lake Trails are groomed and in very good condition.

Turtle Mountain Reports groomed trails with fair conditions.
Whiteshell

In the Whiteshell, the McHugh Loop and the South Whiteshell Loop sections of the West Hawk Trails remain ungroomed due to insufficient snow.  The West Hawk Loop, Otter Falls, Pine Point and Trans-Canada Trail (from Nutimik to Dorothy Lake) are in fair condition.  The Whitemouth River Trails at Hadashville received enough snow to track set and are in fair condition.  The South Whiteshell Trail (from West Hawk to Falcon via Faloma) and the trail from West Hawk across Falcon Lake to Falcon Trails Resort are in good condition with fresh track sets.  The Falcon Golf Course, Alf Hole-Jean Lake, Inverness Falls and the Jessica Lake Trails are in good condition with fresh track sets.  The Foresters Footsteps and Jessica Lake –Loop B winter walking trails are hard packed and in good condition.

Exposed rocks, sticks and bare patches exist along all ski and winter walking trails due to poor snow cover.  The recent mild weather has caused some slush conditions to occur along all trails.

Important Note for all Park Visitors:

Construction crews are operating near the main snowmobile trail near Rennie between the crossing of the PTH 44 and PR 307 junction and the Goose Pond, as well as along the Alf Hole-Jean Lake Ski Trail. 

Manitoba Hydro crews are clearing trees from the power transmission lines that follow the snowmobile trail at Otter Falls are also clearing trees along other power transmission lines across the park.  Work crews may be operating on or along snowmobile trails in these areas.

Please observe signage, reduce speed and use caution when travelling in these areas.

 

The Falcon Ridge Ski and Recreation Area  The Falcon Ridge Ski & Recreation Area currently has the T-bar, Chickadee Lift and the Smokey Hill open, the tubing hill is open and all cross-country ski trails have been packed for skate-skiing. The Terrain Park is still being set up and the Sunshine Hill requires more snow. For operating hours and more

Winter Safety Tips

  • Check the weather report and heed precautions and advisories. If weather warnings suggest a severe wind chill or extremely low temperatures, consider avoiding outdoor activities until the weather improves.

  • Travel is not recommended on all streams, rivers and lakes.

  • Keep a trail map with you and know where you are. Stay on marked trails.
