The Otter Falls Access Loop is closed from the Otter Falls ball diamond west towards the main trail due to construction occurring along this section of trail. All remaining trails in the South Whiteshell also remain closed. (The closed trails include Falcon Lake to High Lake, Falcon Lake to West Hawk Lake, West Hawk Lake to Caddy Lake and Caddy Lake to Star Lake.)
Due to insufficient snow cover, there are exposed rocks, sticks and bare patches along all trails. Slush conditions have formed on some trails and lakes. Ice ridges exist on lakes across the park. Please watch for grooming equipment along all trails and remember that this equipment and work crews may be present day or night.

Snowmobiling Tips
- If you go through the ice, your snowmobile suit ( even a non-buoyant one) and a helmet may keep you afloat for several minutes. Slide back onto the ice, kick your feet and roll away from the hole. Keep your mitts on as they will help you grab the ice. Use anything sharp to dig for a better pull.
- Make sure your headlight and taillights are clear of snow and dress for the colder temperature darkness brings.
- Carry a useful tool kit, spare parts, flashlight, first aid kit and a few survival items such as high energy food, matches in a water proof container, compass and a whistle.
- Check the weather and conditions of the trails before traveling.
- Drowning is one of the leading causes of snowmobiling fatalities. Consider buying a buoyant snowmobile suit.
- Before each ride, follow the "pre-op" check outlined in your owner's manual. Make sure your headlights are clear of snow.
- Travel is not recommended on all lakes, rivers or streams.
- Check the weather report and heed precautions and advisories. If weather warnings suggest a severe wind chill or extremely low temperatures, consider avoiding outdoor activities until the weather improves. Dress smart!
- Wear a snowmobiling helmet. Slow down and enjoy the scenery and the experience.
- Keep a trail map with you and know where you are. Stay on marked trails.
