Hometown Manitoba is a program under the Rural Economic Development Initiative (REDI) that provides financial support for rural and northern community projects initiated by local communities, organizations, cooperatives and businesses that enhance “main street” public places and building exteriors. The program also aims to promote the unique identities and themes that define a community.
Covering New Ground
Covering New Ground (CNG) is an initiative of Manitoba Agriculture, Food and Rural Initiatives. The program provides funding to Manitoba producer groups and provincial commodity organizations to carry out sustainable agriculture demonstration or technology transfer projects throughout the province.

Northern Development Strategy Fund
The Northern Development Strategy Fund (NDSF) was created in 2002. The intent of this fund is to provide seed money towards a wide range of natural resource and sustainable development initiatives. These initiatives include funding to study and establish community based resource harvesting activities (e.g. tourism, fishery, forestry, non-timber forest products) which lead to economic development.

Neighbourhoods Alive!
The Manitoba Government created Neighbourhoods Alive! to provide community organizations in designated neighbourhoods with the support they need to rebuild these neighbourhoods. Neighbourhoods Alive! recognizes that often the best ideas for neighbourhood revitalization come from the community itself. The aim of Neighbourhoods Alive! is to support these ideas and goals with funding and planning assistance.

Eco Action – Community Funding Program
Eco Action is a program of Environment Canada that encourages Canadians to take action in their communities in support of healthy environments. Eco Action will encourage projects that protect, rehabilitate or enhance the natural environment, and build the capacity of communities to sustain activities into the future. Priority is given to projects that address one of the following four environmental priorities: clean air, clean water, climate change, and nature.
