Resident Youth Hunting Opportunities

Option 1 - Shared Bag Limits

Residents 12 to 17 years of age may hunt all big game species (during both draw and non-draw seasons), migratory game birds*, upland game birds or wild turkey, without a licence provided:

  • they carry proof of age
  • they carry proof they graduated from a (link opens in new browser window) hunter education course, and
  • they are under direct supervision (within reach) of an adult supervisor who is a resident of Manitoba and who possesses a valid hunting licence for that species and season. Adult mentors must comply with the hunter dress requirement.

An adult supervisor / mentor may be held accountable for the actions of a youth hunter.

Any game harvested is included in the bag limit of their licensed adult supervisor.

*If they wish to hunt waterfowl outside of the Waterfowl Heritage Days (September 1 - 7), they must purchase the Canada Migratory Game Bird Hunting Permit and Wildlife Habitat Conservation Stamp.

Party hunting privileges of the adult supervisor apply to the youth.
