Evacuation Guidelines

Registration Process/ Reception Centres

• After evacuating, register at one of the following reception centres for evacuees:

  • If you need evacuation assistance, please call 1-877-655-0502.
  • Additional reception centres across the province are ready to open if needed.
• People evacuating from anywhere in Manitoba may also register by phone with the Canadian Red Cross at 1-888-662-3211.
• Once you are registered, you will receive an evacuation allowance from the Manitoba government.
• Family and friends who can accommodate you should be the first alternative you identify as part of your personal preparedness planning, and once you have registered you can go to these alternate accommodations.
• If you do not have emergency accommodations arranged, you may be given a hotel room (depending on availability). If no hotel rooms are available, you may be assigned to a larger facility (group lodging/cots) in one of the above communities.

If you make your own arrangements for a hotel, you will be responsible for the costs of the hotel. You may be able to recover some of these costs (up to a maximum of the government discount rate) by submitting a Disaster Financial Assistance (DFA) claim after the flood. More information about DFA (including claim forms) is available at www.manitobaemo.ca.

If you have made your own arrangements for a hotel, you will still be eligible to receive your meal evacuation allowances (per diems) through any community reception centre.

In the event of an evacuation, the following evacuation allowance rates (per diems) will be available starting from the date of the evacuation.
