Flood protection measures taken since the flood of 1950 have provided significant protection to the City of Winnipeg and the Red River Valley. The 2009 flood was the second largest recorded flood and bigger than 1950, but as seen in these photos, significant property damage was prevented by community ring dikes and the Red River Floodway.
