Cadham Provincial Laboratory

Mission Statement

Cadham Provincial Laboratory is a Manitoba public health, reference, and applied research facility, committed to excellence in the preservation of wellness by preventing, detecting and monitoring human disease, and providing related education to health care professionals and the public.

Clients

The clients of the CPL include all of the following and for the purposes indicated:

  • Physicians and other clinicians, to whom we provide diagnostic information derived from laboratory analysis.
  • Manitoba Health staff who support control programs, e.g. sexually transmitted disease control, foodborne diseases, etc., for the diagnosis and control of notifiable communicable diseases.
  • Medical Officers of Health, public health inspectors, public health nurses, for whom we act as an investigator of cases of public health significance and of outbreaks/epidemics.
  • Other laboratories, who use us as a referral centre for special tests.
  • The University of Manitoba, for which we are an adjunct teaching and research centre.
  • Other investigators and researchers, who we serve as collaborators in their studies, investigations or research projects.
  • Students, associates and others who benefit from our training functions.
  • The Canadian Science Centre for Human and Animal Health with whom we liaise to provide a national service of public health activities.
