National Child Day Forum 2005

Kids & Communities: Celebrating Progress, Embracing Opportunity - November 17 and 18, 2005

On November 17 and 18, in recognition of National Child Day, 2005, Healthy Child Manitoba hosted a Forum for Parent Child Coalitions and other community partners.

The focus of the conference was early childhood development and building community capacity. Participants had the opportunity to network with colleagues from around the province, to celebrate together, to discuss ways of applying research and best practice and to strengthen skills to enhance their work in communities.

Professor Fiona Stanley from Australia was the keynote speaker. Named Australian of the Year in 2003, Professor Stanley is a vocal advocate for the needs of children and their families.

A highlight of the Forum was the opportunity for conference participants to meet with members of the Healthy Child Committee of Cabinet, to share their successes and discuss opportunities for the future.
