Protect your NogginIn 2005 the Healthy Kids Healthy Futures All Party Task Force heard from Manitobans that it was important to promote the increased use of helmets and safer bicycle riding skills as well as make affordable helmets more accessible to families in Manitoba. Over the past 4 years, through the Low Cost Bike Helmet Initiative, over 52,000 low cost helmets have been purchased by Manitoba families. This year, we are once again offering this initiative to ensure that families have their helmets when the spring cycling season begins for young Manitoba cyclists.
Working in partnership with the Materials Distribution Agency (MDA), Manitoba schools and early learning child care centres, bike helmets are distributed throughout the province. MDA will assist once again in providing more affordable Consumer Protection Safety Council (CPSC) approved bicycle helmets to Manitoba families. Helmets are being offered at prices under $15, which includes taxes, shipping and handling.
An Information package on how to purchase helmets through the Low-cost Bike Helmet Initiative has been sent directly to all Manitoba schools and child care centres.
Order forms are collected through your child’s school or child care centre and are due no later than February 19, 2010.
