Details:
- Student population was divided into six multi-age, cross-grade House groups of 25 students each.
- A schedule of rotation was set up so each group could visit each station for 20 minutes during the afternoon
Station 1 – Review of the four food groups with collage posters using pictures from grocery ads
Station 2 – Hand washing demonstration and “Make your own” Fruit Kabob snack
Station 3 –Physical Activity in the gym where kids played Fruit Salad
Station 4 – Music room, songs sung about fruits, vegetables and drinking water
Station 5 – Hydration and the importance of water for your brain, and amount of sugar in various drinks
Station 6 – Information on nutrition label reading followed by matching activity to match the label with its food
- Copy of the Canada Food Guide was sent home with students
