Strider Resources Ltd. located a spodumene dyke near Wekusko Lake in Central Manitoba. A three hole drill program, in 1997, by Carta Resources Ltd. increased drill indicated and possible resource of the deposit to 4 305 000 tonnes grading 1.30% Li2O, over a weighted average true width of 9.99 m. The spodumene has too high an iron content for ceramics. An open pit could be developed on the deposit. Metallurgical studies have demonstrated that a simple floatation method will produce a high-purity spodumene concentrate (Carta Resources Ltd., News Release, April 3, 1998).

The feasibility of building an on-site lithium carbonate plant was being studied by Carta Resources Ltd.; and a market study was to be carried out to determine North American requirements for the glass, chemical, pharmaceutical industries and battery industry (Carta Resources Ltd., News Release, April 3, 1998).
