Project Description

Main objectives:

The main objective of this project is to investigate the potential of the Burntwood syenite to host rare earth element mineralization. The syenite is a heterogeneous intrusion with metasomatized zones similar to those associated with carbonatite intrusions at Eden and Paint lakes.

Methodology:

  • Conduct detailed outcrop mapping of the syenite complex and immediately adjacent Burntwood Group metasedimentary gneisses.
  • Conduct radiometric ground survey with hand-held spectrometer.
  • Extensive sampling for thin section, mineralogical, geochemical, and isotopic studies.
  • Document the metasomatized zones and investigate potential sources of metasomatic fluids.

Benefits:

Better knowledge of the mineralogy and whole rock geochemistry of the known occurrences (and of the new occurrences, if identified) will reveal more of the REE and rare metals potential of these localities and possibly open doors for exploration
