To Qualify Applicants Must:

• hold a Manitoba Prospecting Licence
  
  
• be experienced and self-employed
  
  
• have a prospecting project within Manitoba on mineral dispositions held by the applicant or open Crown mineral land
  
  
• have a prospecting target that may include rocks or minerals other than crushed rock for construction purposes, sand, gravel, natural gas and petroleum
  
  

Submission Dates:

Applications for summer projects must be submitted between April 1 and May 15.

Eligible Activities/Expenses:

• wages - $100 per day for the prospector and employees of the prospector for each full day they are directly engaged in the project or while travelling to and from the nearest established Manitoba community
  
  
• food and shelter
  
  
• 10% administration fee
  
  
• transportation of prospectors, employees, equipment and supplies
  
  
• operating supplies
  
  
• contractors' and/or consulting services
  
  
• rental of prospecting equipment
  
  
• assays and/or other analyses
  
  
• diamond drilling

Maximum Assistance:

• 50% of the expenditures incurred are paid up to $7,500
  
  
• 80% of the cost of one return charter flight from the nearest Manitoba community to the project area or $1,500, whichever is less.
  
  
• maximum grant of $9,000 per applicant per year
  
  

Claiming for Reimbursement/Payment Method:

• a claim for reimbursement and a Technical Report of Work (Schedule 3) must be completed and submitted by November 15 of the same year for summer programs
  
  
• included in the Technical Report is a location map of field work, a description of all work performed and results obtained, and any other data pertinent to the program
  
  
• a lump sum payment will be made once the final report has been approved
  
  

Review and Approval of Projects:

All applications and prospecting project proposals will be carefully reviewed and rated on an evaluation system. This rating is done to determine whether the applications meet acceptable standards. In the event that the Program is oversubscribed, the applications with higher ratings will be approved. In light of this, we recommend that applicants strengthen their submissions with:

1. a good quality technical outline with maps and reason for the proposed project;
   
   
2. outline and proof, if possible, of education/training and prospecting experience;
   
   
3. list of any option agreements made with applicant on his properties; and
   
   
4. references.

All applicants will be advised within 10 working days of the closing date for applications whether their proposal has been accepted and at what level of funding.
