Synopsis of Manitoba's Oil Lease Sale

The results of competitive bidding on August 11, 2010 for Crown oil and gas rights which was offered by the Department of Innovation, Energy and Mines, resulted in a total of $4,266,140.64 being added to provincial revenue.

Twenty Nine lease parcels, covering 3338.64 hectares (8,249.79 acres) were sold for a bonus amount totaling $3,247,591.39. The average price per hectare for lease parcels sold was $972.73 ($420.77 per acre).

All four exploration reservation parcels offered, covering 3904.0 hectares (9,646.78 acres) were sold for a bonus amount totaling $980,000.00. The average price per hectare for exploration reservation parcels sold was $251.02 ($101.58 per acre).
 
Windfall Resources Ltd., paid the highest price per hectare for a parcel located in the Waskada area. The firm paid $4,323.68 per hectare ($1,749.76 per acre) as a tender bonus.

This is the third of four sales scheduled for 2010. The next sale will be held on November 3, 2010. The deadline for posting requests is August 13, 2010.
