
Strategic Services and Innovation works closely with the Assistant Deputy Minister and other key stakeholders to: establish and adjust strategic directions for government’s ICT assets and resources; establish and clarify policies that provide guidance for the management of ICT in government; establish and maintain a business architecture that enables identification of service improvements through technology.
Enterprise Architecture is the set of strategic architectural principles, guidelines, directions, models and standards designed to support and improve the delivery of Government services. Enterprise Architecture provides the guidance for decision-makers and ICT staff to make technology-related decisions that support a unified approach to information technology deployment and use as well as ensuring that technology investments are aligned with business strategy.
The Information Protection Centre (IPC) is responsible for protecting the Manitoba government computer networks and safeguarding Manitoba’s information and technology assets. The IPC works with business owners to ensure that the information assets of the government are protected and secure while enabling online service delivery.
ICT Procurement and Vendor Relations was created effective April1, 2005 as part of an Implementation Strategy to improve the Manitoba Government's approach to the procurement of information and communications technologies goods and services. ICTP is responsible for the procurement of all ICT products and services for Departments and Special Operating Agencies.
Governance and Value Management operates in a central agency capacity with a broad scope of responsibility. It is mandated to provide subject matter expertise in the development of an overarching framework (process steps, standards, policies, procedures and templates) for the management of ICT enterprise wide (governance). A key responsibility of the unit is to ensure information technology investments align with government strategic priorities and are in line with ICT strategic direction. In addition, responsibilities include value governance, investment analysis, risk management, policy development, planning and benefits realization.
