Technical Training


How to Register for Technical Training

Each spring, eligible apprentices will receive an Apprenticeship Technical Training Registration Calendar in the mail. The Calendar contains a list of the technical training courses offered for the year, information on how to register, tuition payments and the registration start dates. Classes are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

For further information about your technical training, please contact your Apprenticeship Training Coordinator.

Online course registration and payment will be available to apprentices beginning June 27, 2011.

Apprentices will receive login instructions to activate their account in mail/email correspondence distributed June 20, 2011

Important Note: The username and password provided to you by Apprenticeship Manitoba is required to activate your account and online course registration. Current apprentices will not be able to retrieve this information if they create themselves as a new user. Employers will not be able to register on behalf of their apprentices online.

*Online course registration is not available in the following trades for the following reasons;

  • Beauty Trades – Esthetician, Electrologist and Hairstylist - There is no technical training requirement
  • Electric Motor System Technician, Glazier, Industrial Instrument Mechanic, Partsperson - Technical training is delivered outside of Manitoba
  • Pork Production Technician, Gas Turbine Repair & Overhaul Technician - Technical training registration administered by the college or organization
  • Computer Numerical Control Machinist , Concrete Finisher,  Floorcovering Installer, Insulator (Heat and Frost), Recreation Vehicle Service Technician , Steel Fabricator - No technical training courses scheduled
  • Water and Wastewater Technician – classes not yet scheduled

New-Apprenticeship Online Courses Coming Soon

Learn, study and work in your home community. With a new partnership with Manitoba’s three colleges, led by Red River College, online courses will be available in 12 designated trades and common core subjects including Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHIMS). Math/science and communication will be offered online starting in the 2011-2012 academic year. More information about online course availability and registration available in late Fall 2011.

Textbook Information

A listing of the required textbooks may be obtained from your instructor on the first day of classes or by contacting the bookstore of the college that you are attending.

Local bookstores may also carry the required textbooks.

Curriculum Information

For each trade, the Curriculum Information section provides you with access to trade specific curriculum including trade level charts, level curriculum, profile charts, NOA comparison charts, accreditation program facility and curriculum checklists.

Community-Delivered Training

In addition to completing apprenticeship training at a major institution such as Red River College, Assiniboine Community College or University College of the North etc. Apprenticeship Manitoba may offer technical training through one of the above providers directly in your community.
