Health Promotion and Policy
The Health Promotion and Policy Unit provides health promotion and prevention leadership at a population level within and outside the health sector. Health promotion is addressed using evidence-informed approaches through healthy public policy, health in all policies, programs and strategic partnerships. This is undertaken for the purpose of creating environments that support all Manitobans to make healthier choices, reduce health inequities, and improve the health status of the population.
Key functions:
- Collaborate with organizations across sectors and other government departments to advance health equity and help build supportive environments that promote the prevention of injury and disease and improve overall wellness.
- Support and strengthen community capacity, with special attention to those most negatively impacted by health inequities.
- Engage with communities to build relationships, gain and share knowledge.
- Develop and monitor policies through seven policy streams to foster healthy environments.
- Contribute to the Population and Public Health Framework to ensure that all Manitobans are living to their full potential in supportive environments.
