PETROLOGIC DATA
Rock Number: 1
-semi-pelitic to pelitic sill musco. rich
-in many ways similar to Kisseynew Smak as found at Russell and Kamachowee Lake
-tourmaline occurs randomly as 1 to 3 mm needles and cm size crystals in quartz and pegmatite veins
-has 2 m beds of white weathering protoquartzite
-this rock is distinctly different from the psammitic greywacke but probably equivelent to the previously encoutered feldspathic SNDS
| Mineral | Abundance (%) |
---
sillimanite
muscovite
garnet
tourmaline
Rock Number: 2
-two Molson dikes occur on outcrop both parallel to layering and foliation
-one is 25 cm wide, the other occurs on the west edge of the outcrop island
-it is exposed for 1.5 m
-it shows as good chill margin and rapid increasing grain size away from margin
-the majority of the float in the swamp west or the island is coarse Molson gabbro, as encountered farther south on the channel
-this location is in almost perfect alignment containing the previous occurences and thus may be the eastern contact of the thick Molson dike occupying the channel
-the rock is highly magnetic as previous occurances
-this is true for the thin dike also
