Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls (MMIWG) Calls for Justice
The MMIWG Calls for Justice came from over 2,380 responses. Insights came from family members of victims. They also came from survivors of violence, experts, elders and knowledge keepers across Canada. The MMIWG National Inquiry developed a total of 231 Calls for Justice and issued a final report in 2019. Many of the calls focus on boosting resources for health and wellness. This includes support for Indigenous women, girls and LGBTQ2SIA+ individuals. ISB provides health and wellness resources for Justice staff. Spiritual care providers help ensure Indigenous women, girls and LGBTQ2SIA+ people get the support they need at work. Additionally, ISB will create strategies for Indigenous recruitment and retention. It will enhance mentorship for Indigenous women, girls and LGBTQ2SIA+ individuals. This support will help them grow in their careers.
