Economic Impact Assessments

In this age of increasingly tight budgets, it is critical that planning and investment decisions be based on the best information available. Assessing the impact of private or public investment, new construction, or changes in economic policy is often crucial.

Using the MBS Economic Assessment and Tax Revenue Models, MBS can assist in decision-making by providing economic and fiscal analysis of projects, operations and industries to estimate their potential impacts to the provincial economy.

Manitoba economic impact assessment of current horticultural production (August 2018)

The Manitoba Bureau of Statistics (MBS) was commissioned by Manitoba Agriculture, with funds from Growing Forward 2 (GF2), to produce an economic impact assessment of horticulture in Manitoba.  In addition to the provincial Department of Agriculture, the economic impact of Manitoba horticulture was supported by the following grower organizations and their members who graciously provided data for the study:  The Manitoba Nursery Landscape Association (MNLA), Prairie Fruit Growers Association (PFGA), and Vegetable Growers Association of Manitoba (VGAM).
