Seasonal Flu

The seasonal influenza vaccine program is underway in Manitoba.  The following people are eligible to get the seasonal flu shot at no cost:

  • individuals age 65 or older
  • children aged six to 23 months
  • adults or children with heart or lung disease, or other chronic illness
  • pregnant women (regardless of trimester or due date)
  • close household contacts of anyone above
  • health care workers
  • first responders (police officer, fire fighter, paramedic)

Manitobans over the age of 65 should also get a pneumococcal shot at the same time as the seasonal flu shot. Most adults only need one pneumococcal shot in their lifetime.

If you have questions about whether you should get the seasonal flu vaccine, contact your health care provider or call Health Links – Info Santé at 788-8200 in Winnipeg or toll-free 1-888-315-9257.
