Child Care Centres in New Schools
Manitoba’s Child Care in Schools Policy requires the consideration of new child care spaces as part of the construction of all new schools, or those undergoing a major renovation.
The province pledged to open 20 new schools across Manitoba over a 10 year span, through the 20 New Schools Guarantee, with an additional 3 schools announced in March 2023 under this initiative. Each school will include a child care centre build or expansion in its design, making child care more accessible for Manitoba families.

Outside of the Child Care in Schools program, school divisions were invited to submit an Expression of Interest for new child care spaces to be developed on-site using surplus land or building space.
