Disability and Child Development Information

 


The information on this web-based tool is organized into user-friendly fact sheets to help you find information on the services available for people with disabilities in Manitoba.


ManitobaParentZone.ca is a made-in-Manitoba site that provides trusted resources and information on parenting and child development information that reflects current best practices in health and child and adolescent development.


Autishem and/or Intellectual Disability Knowledge Exchange Network (AIDE Canada) is an online tool that aims to offer accessible, reliable, and evidence-informed information and resources for members of the autism and/or intellectual disability communities.


AboutKidsHealth is a health education resource for children, youth and caregivers that is approved by health-care providers at The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. It makes complex health information easy to understand for families.


Caring for Kids is a website developed by Canadian Paediatric Society that provides parents with information about their child’s and teen’s health and well-being.

Disability Supports

 


The DHSU reviews and assesses all requests for equipment and  medical supplies, including incontinence supplies, submitted by health professionals on behalf of clients of the Children’s disABILITY Services, Employment and Income Assistance, and Community Living disABILITY Services programs.


CTNM is a joint program of many provincial government departments to provide coordinated, regionally based audiology, occupational therapy, physiotherapy and speech-language pathology services for children across Manitoba.


SSCY is an initiative focused on the integration of programs and services for children and youth with disabilities and special needs in Manitoba.


URIS supports children with special health needs to safely participate in eligible community programs such as public and independent schools, licensed child care facilities and publicly funded respite


Jordan’s Principle is a Government of Canada initiative that responds to unmet health, social and educational needs of all First Nations children no matter where they live in Canada. Jordan’s Principle ensures that First Nation children can access the products, services and supports they need, when they need them.

Financial Resources

 


The Primary Caregiver Tax Credit is recognition and financial support in the form of a refundable tax credit for the registered caregiver of most children eligible for Children’s disABILITY Services.

School Information

 


This protocol is intended for the family, early childhood service providers, school divisions and school staff, who are involved in the joint planning for children with additional support needs who are transitioning into school.


Student Services enable the equitable participation of students with special learning needs in the Manitoba school system.
