Training and Certification

Compost training for facility operators and backyard composters

To participate in the Manitoba Composts Program, operators must obtain Compost Facility Operator Certification within two years of signing a Manitoba Composts Agreement.

The SWANA/Compost Council of Canada Joint Compost Facility Operator Certification Course is held annually, giving compost facility operators the opportunity to become certified. In addition, Conservation and Climate, in association with the Compost Council of Canada, offers an annual certification course in Manitoba. Please contact the Organics Program Coordinator at 204-945-2041 for more information about course availability.

A Master Composter Program is offered annually through the Green Action Centre. The program is open to the general public and is recommended for anyone who is interested in further developing their backyard composting skills.
