Diagnostic Services
Diagnostic services include examinations such as magnetic resonance
imaging (MRI), computed tomography (CT) scans and ultrasounds. Diagnostic
services are primarily used to help health care providers detect
a problem, and diagnose disease or injury. Diagnostic services can
also be used to determine how well treatments are working, or to
measure results over time.
You may be able to have the test in the location of your choice. Talk to your doctor to see if this is an option for you.
Diagnostic services wait times are currently reported as:
- an average wait time for completed cases (calculated retrospectively),
- a minimum wait time based on the next available slot in the schedule (estimated prospectively), or
- an average wait time based on the next available slot in the schedule (estimated prospectively).
As planned improvements in information systems for diagnostic services are implemented, diagnostic wait times will be standardized with other program areas.
