STEP 4. Credential Assessment

Following your application review, if it appears that you may qualify for ECE classification, the Early Learning and Child Care Program will refer you to a credential assessment service. The International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS) is preferred. If you already have a credential assessment from another Canadian agency, the Early Learning and Child Care Program will ask you to submit this.

Process You must:
  • Complete the IQAS application form for basic assessment
  • Provide IQAS with required transcripts
  • Request that the credential assessment report be sent directly to the Early Learning and Child Care Program.
  • IQAS will verify your documents and compare your education programs to the education programs in Manitoba. IQAS will send a statement of comparison directly to the Early Learning and Child Care Program.
  • The Early Learning and Child Care Program will conduct a further assessment to determine if your education is equivalent to the educational standards in Manitoba.
Processing time 6 - 12 weeks
Check the IQAS website for accurate updates on wait periods
Fee $110 - $145 (May 2012)

Notes The Early Learning and Child Care Program will accept credential assessments from Canadian agencies only. IQAS is the preferred credential assessment agency. ELCC will provide you with information on other acceptable agencies. All agencies require a fee for service. A list of Canadian agencies can be found at Alliance of Credential Evaluation Services of Canada (ACESC)
