Re-Set Vision for Regional Planning – Complete
Action: Work with Winnipeg Metropolitan Region to engage member municipalities to re-set the vision for regional planning and the timeline for regional plan adoption
Complete – What’s New: On February 18, 2026, the Minister brought into effect amendments to the Capital Planning Region Regulation to align with recommendations in the Braid Report and with input from municipalities and other stakeholders. Includes changes to board structure to reduce the number of provincial appointees, removing quorum requirements, enhancing the voting structure, and clarifying hearing requirements. Underway – What’s New: Manitoba GRO, an application-based program designed to help Manitoba municipalities advance critical infrastructure, includes Regional Benefits as a selection criterion. Projects that serve a region (i.e. more than one municipality and multiple communities) and/or involve partner municipalities to achieve regional benefits are strongly encouraged.
