Guidelines for British Columbia Samples Submitted to Manitoba Veterinary Diagnostic Services (VDS)

During the closure of the British Columbia Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Fisheries, Animal Health Centre, Manitoba VDS will accept samples for diagnostic testing from British Columbia veterinarians. Case Submission Forms and other guidelines can be found on our website.

Note that samples must be submitted through as licensed veterinarian, and forms must include the name and contact information of the veterinarian. VDS will send lab results and invoices only to veterinary practices, not to animal owners. There will be no additional fees for out-of-province testing.

We do not recommend shipping whole dead animals to Manitoba for necropsy. If necropsy services are required, please contact one of the labs in closer proximity (Prairie Diagnostic Services in Saskatoon or the Diagnostic Services Unit at the University of Calgary, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine).

For any inquiries about sending samples to Manitoba, please contact VDS.
